Ethan's First Pinewood Derby

After turning 8, Ethan has enjoyed Cub Scouts immensely.  March 22 was his very first pinewood derby...it was a special one though.  It was a crash derby.  You had to design your car so an egg could stay in it and when hitting the cinderblock at the bottom of the track, the egg would NOT crack.  Ethan wanted rubberbands to hold the egg snugly and used an egg carton to hold it on the car!  It worked!  His egg did NOT crack!...see the movie and pix.

Natalie Gallup did an amazing job and it was fun for us to enjoy the event.  There was a concession stand, the boys had pit crew/driver name tags, and the family members enjoyed it too--short and sweet!  it was a blast and Ethan was extremely proud.

He did design and paint the car himself and i just cut it out on the lines.  i did help with the hot glueing for obviously reasons but he did it all himself.  he was so excited.  The car his to have a license plate on it too--his birthday.  He worked and worked on it, using the cricut to cut out the vinyl numbers to get it just right.  i think that the car was completed 1 week after he got it.
