The Clapper, Clap, Clap

You know how great it is to fall into bed at night, get all snug in the big comforter and get so warm that you don't dare move for fear that you will get cold or ruin the perfect sleeping position?  I think you do!

but then you realize that darn lamp is still on!!!  Many, many nights Dan and i would get into bed, get snug as a bug, talk for a while and then he'd turn over and go to sleep.  I'd lay there, thinking, stewing, how am i going to turn off that lamp without getting cold and lose my sleep spot?  never worked.

This summer, i started clapping.  Dan was annoyed and asked what i was doing?  i said, turning off the light!  We laughed and laughed about that.  Still didn't have a workable solution to my problem.

I started telling Dan to turn on his lamp on his side of the bed, not mine. That only lasted for about a month and then he was back to turning on my lamp (must be closer to the door or something!)

I went back to clapping and we still laughed.  I told him that i wanted the clapper thing for the lamp for christmas!  he did buy it for me!  When i opened it, we just smiled  i was so excited to be able to stay in my spot and still turn off the light.

Let me tell you, the clap is not that easy. You have to get the sound and depth of your clapping just right in order for the lamp to go on and off.  That old lady on the commerical made it look so easy!!!  Thank heavens it came with a remote!  that works too for me...i can keep my sleep spot and stay warm and the light goes off!

Funny: I just got home from the hospital on the 11th. I was tired and Dan tucked me in bed and told me to sleep while he went to get the kids from Grandma's and school.  (side note: The anesthesia really did a number on me and i was having a hard time getting my breathing rhythm back.  i was coughing a lot.)  Dan leaves me alone, the room is dark and i am almost asleep.  All the sudden, i cough two times, the lamp comes on.

i have been trying to almost a month to clap just right two times so the lamp will turn on or off...but to no avail.  i am laying here half dead (okay, not really but pretty out of it) and i cough and the clapper works?!  Go figure!

Ha, ha, ha!

My Grandma got the Clapper and put it on the lamp in her living room. Whenever a large group of people would gather at her house, and there was a sudden burst of laughter, the light would turn off!

Fun stuff.
